Cwm v Llangennech

For the first time in many a year Cwm won down in Llangennch to open their account for the season - old heads at the club don't ever remember winning away to Llan and Chair Royden Morgan reckons the last win was in the 1960s!!

The team fully deserved the result and controlled the game for long periods and were unfortunate to concede a try in the last minute of the first half to go in at the break 6-7 down after two P Thomas long range penalties had given the advantage.

Llan came out full of purpose after half time and a Roberts drop goal and a penalty by the outside half streched the lead to 7 points before ill discipline set in for Llan with a yellow card to their back row forward for not relasing the ball at breakdowns handing Cwm the advantage.

Cwm duly capitalized with some great driving play leading to a try by live wire openside C O Conner coverted by Thomas.

Further penalties by Thomas for persitnet llaL offences led to three second half penalties as Cwm streched the lead to 22-13 with five minutes to go.

Llan then threw everything at the visitors and a try under the post converted by Roberts made for a frantic final two minutes.

Cwm held their nerve and kept Llan in their half, with still more offences by Llan forwards leading to a last minute penalty. Cwm opted strangely with the last play to go for goal when kicking dead would have been the safe option - the kick went wide and dead and Cwm took the well deserved win with Llan gaining a bonus point.

Final score 22-20 to the Blues with Thomas ending up with 17 valuable points.
